You know, it really hurts my heart when I realize

You know, it really hurts my heart when I realize something has been stolen. A few weeks ago, a young man was so nice and interested in the shop. The whole time he was talking to me, he was stuffing socks down his pants while praising the artwork. He stole 9 pair. All on camera, from multiple angles. And today, The Village Mermaid asked if this zipper bag was mine. Yep, it is. He found it last week or the week before in his planter. I figure someone put something in it and tossed the bag once they left. Now I have to figure out what is missing in case I have to pay an artist for their work. I’m just like you, struggling to cover all the bills. I work every single day. M-W is my regular job as a computer programmer and the rest of the days I’m here at the shop, hoping to show you cool things made by local or small artists. When you steal from here, you are stealing from me AND most likely an artist. It isn’t cool. I’m not Walmart where I can afford it. You are literally taking money from us. I still pay the artist because I feel strongly that I’m the caretaker of their work while it is here. Just, please have some empathy. The things weren’t stolen because of a need, they were stolen just because the person felt entitled. Stealing is wrong, for those of you that haven’t been told that. Yes, things are tough right now. If you were struggling and needed socks to stay warm, I’ll give you socks. And, yes, I have done this for someone before. You see all the shops and restaurants closing …things like this are why. I’ve had two people return things that were stolen over the years and I appreciate them so much for having a conscience and doing that. This just hit me hard today because I’ve had a lot of loss this year. But, I’m putting on my big girl panties, and gonna keep showcasing all the weird and amazing things I can find for you! 🖤

Welp, I decided to early vote today in VB. The line is incredible!!! I WILL OPEN LATE. I’m not sure how late though. I’m committed to doing this today because the guy directing cars made sure I got a spot.

The first bag is called Duality and the stained glass looking fabric is based on Wednesday Addams (black gothic side) and her roommate (pink shiny side). It is $45.
